Speaking as a follower of Christ

Picture
Tim's original project to earn his Masters in Christian Studies from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School blended the Biblical teachings on forgiveness with the science of forgiveness. All forgiveness teachings are available with a focus on following Christ. The Freedom through Forgiveness six-week course includes Biblical references and supports along with meditations/readings designed to reinforce that week's lesson.

Although forgiveness is the heart of Tim's speaking, he also has developed a number of other presentations and is open to designing what you need to encourage your people. Tim has experience teaching on a Sunday morning at a worship service or in smaller settings as well as special teaching times and retreat settings. Tim's spiritual journey includes many years spent in local church work, youth ministry, outreach to impoverished people, and experience in the Pro-Life movement. The core teachings on forgiveness are appropriate for Christian gatherings. Topics taught from a Christian perspective include (but are not limited to):
  • Hey DADDY! From Pro-life to My choice and back again
This is Tim's personal journey about making a devastating, desperate decision nearly three decades ago. The consequences of some decisions are life changing. Can God really forgive everything? How could I forgive myself?
  • Turning Pits into Tunnels: Living with Depression
I have struggled with depression for most of my life. Depression is often misunderstood and I get tired of people telling me to “buck up.” I have learned a few things in my journey living with depression and would love to share them.
  • How Not to Deal with Pain (self-injury, suicide, addiction)
Life isn’t easy. I found out sometimes I was my worse enemy. I have dealt with hurting myself, suicidal desires and a few addictions along the way. Maybe I can help you learn how not to deal with pain through sharing my personal story.
  • Finding Gold in the People around You
How can we help people become the unique, special awesome person they are meant to be? It starts with our attitude followed by actions.
  • Leaving a Legacy
Anger, resentment, mistrust can all be passed down from generation to generation. What if Love, Mercy, and Forgiveness have the same lasting impact? What will your legacy be?
  • The 12-Steps as a Guide to Christian Living
You might be familiar with the 12-steps of different recovery programs, but did you know they can help provide a blueprint for Christian living?

He has taught the course 9 times in the Stoughton area--mostly at Stoughton Hospital but also at Christ the King Community Church and Ezra Church. Class sizes have ranged from 5-15 people with teenagers to seasoned citizens. Classes meet for 90 minutes, once a week, for six weeks. Tim also offers Forgiveness Refreshers where all past participants are invited to come and encourage each other in forgiveness.
